Truck Types

Counterbalance

A counterbalance truck is what people think of when thinking about a fork lift truck. The counterbalance is designed for straight forward operations and can use either LPG (gas), diesel or electric engines. The counterbalance truck can be used indoors and/or outdoors depending on the working environment and is the perfect starting block for an operator to begin their learning.

Reach Truck

The reach is design for indoor, warehouse work where space is limited. As the truck has a low undercarriage and small wheels, outdoor work is not recommended for the reach truck. The reach gets its name due to the mast assembly being able to reach out and collect the required load. The reach mechanism allows the truck to operate in tight confined spaces compared to the counterbalance truck. Modern reach trucks can be used to collect loads from great heights as many trucks are now fitted with tilting cabs or cameras.

Pivot Steer Truck

The pivot steer truck, often referred to as the Bendi or Flexi, has been designed to work in confined warehouses with narrow aisles. Requiring less room than a reach truck, many businesses are looking to the pivot steer as a more cost-effective solution to warehousing. Along with the capability to work in narrow aisle, the pivot steer can deal with outdoor conditions like the counterbalance, therefore one pivot steer truck can do the job of the counterbalance and the reach truck.

Powered Pallet Truck (PPT)

PPT trucks are one of the most simplest lift trucks available, however when in the hands of inexperienced operators major accidents can still happen. Using the same princples as a hand pump truck, the forks enter the load to be picked then the electric motor enables the truck to lift, lower and move the truck without the need for manual handling. PPT trucks are best suited to indoor locations with smooth ground surfaces.
